Lieberman Introduces Legislation in U.S. Senate to Repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

The legislation would help end the military’s discriminatory law

Legislation has been introduced in the Senate to end the ban on gays in the military. The bill is sponsored by U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) and would repeal the current law of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the current law that expels military officials from serving in the military if they are honest about their sexual orientation.

John Perez (D-Los Angles) was sworn in today as the first speaker of the California House who is openly gay. During his acceptance speech, he reached out to the minority Republican Party representatives for a new age of bi-partnership.

Equality California asked on Feb. 11 for the governor and state legislature to begin impeachment proceedings against Ronald Rotunda, a member of the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), which regulates campaign finance.


Cinequest Film Festival 20 Begins in Downtown San Jose

This year Cinequest brings more than 200 films from 45 different countries to première in downtown San Jose at Camera 12, Camera 3 and California Theater.

Prop. 8 Federal Judge Vaughn Walker is Gay

The judge was appointed by conservative president Ronald Regan and he has ruled against some gay related cases over the years.

Advocates of gay marriage are waiting for Federal Judge Vaughn Walker to release his ruling on whether or not California’s ban on gay marriage violates the constitution. What most didn’t know during the January trial is that Judge Walker is openly gay, with an interesting twist.
