President Barack Obama was right about his commitment to oust the Taliban from Afghanistan. The president plans to send 30,000 additional troops to the area in an effort to “bring this war to a successful conclusion,” the president said. While facing a lot of criticism from liberals, I believe the president is on the track.
We know for a fact that the Taliban allowed al-Qaida to live, work and plan their attack on the United States that resulted in the murder of more than 3,000 people on September 11, 2001. If the United States pulled out of that country, the Taliban would easily gain control and give al-Qaida a safe place to once again create terror on the Western World.
At this point, the Taliban may even help al-Qaida carry out its tasks to kill Americans. If we pulled out of Afghanistan, all those American lives lost in this war would be in vain because we would not have accomplished our goal to make the country a peaceful place that is free of terrorist who want to do nothing but destroy American lives.
This war has dragged on for eight years for a variety of reasons, including the poor management under the Bush Administration. And the war needs to end. But that isn’t going to happen until the Taliban is crushed and Afghanistan has a skilled loyal army to fight any future attempts by terrorists to take over the country.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we have troops in Afghanistan for many decades like we do in Germany, Japan, Korea and Philippines. The best way to combat terrorists’ attacks is to fight them on their turf. If they are successful reaching the United States, then we are likely doomed. That’s why it’s important to safe guard our country and our people from these evil people who wish nothing but death and destruction on the Western World.
And from what I have read, the people of Afghanistan want to live a calm normal life in peace. That’s something the country hasn’t had in decades. But it is something we can offer, along with the 20 other countries that have joined the United States and will be sending troops such as Spain, Germany, Poland, England and Czech.
Hilary Clinton has been working hard to build an alliance in Afghanistan like never before seen. With the great minds in the Obama administration, along with help from other countries, I believe we will win this war in Afghanistan and help those people live in peace so we too can live our lives without fear of another terrorist attack.
